Thompson RCMP say the woman - whom has not been identified - was arrested on Sunday morning for breach of the peace. She was found hanging in her cell the next morning.

"We're mandated by statute to conduct the investigation because the death had occurred and by the authority of the Fatalities Inquiries Act, we will conduct the investigation," says RCMP spokesman Steve Saunders.
