Drive-in theatres in Winnipeg?

Postby youvalss on Sun Mar 07, 2010 10:05 pm

Good to be back. Haven't posted here in months (although I did read some threads), and happy to post again!

I thought I once saw a thread here about drive-in theatres in Winnipeg but couldn't find it, so I may be wrong... Anyway, I tried to find drive-in theatres in Winnipeg but couldn't find any. I saw some info about one called Odeon, but seems that it's closed. So, does anyone know any? I've never been to a drive-in and it seems like a nice place to go catch a movie with the Mrs. (when the weather allows it). Just like in the old times...

There aren't any more drive-ins in Winnipeg - the last one, the Odeon Drive-In, closed a year or two ago.

I'm pretty sure that some nearby towns still have operating drive-ins, though - the only one I know of is the Stardust in Morden, although there are probably others. (Website: http://stardustmorden.tripod.com/ )

Thanks, and yeah, seems like it's the closest one.

The drive in was great when we had a newborn.... could still go (as long as the movie wasn't restricted) and the wee one would sleep in her car seat or even the bouncy chair (we have a large van so it would fit no problem) while us adults watched a movie or two. I sure miss not having one in Winnipeg as our kiddo is only two so she is still too young to take to the theatre yet.

Maybe we'll have to travel to Morden a few weekends this year. I have no clue how far it is but I imagine it's less than an hour one way? Yes, I will consult google maps for those who are anal enough to think about replying that I should.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked on Google Map and Morden isn't that far away. I'm still not sure if it's worth the trip just for a movie, though, but we'll see. Once the weather gets warmer it may be an option.
