If I have a chance to get away, I usually try to get out to Kenora and Lake of the Woods. I'm not big on beaches, and I think the Canadian Shield country is much nicer (IMO) than Lake Winnipeg is.
Winnipeg Beach or Gimli are nice. I like to actually go wherever they are having a little town fair. Even the sleepiest of towns are at their nicest during their fair. You get to meet the people, go inside the shops and little museum and really take your time wandering around. Nice way to get to know a town.
I've said it before and I'll say it again....Pembina Hills south of Morden MB. Get off the pavement and travel on a good old country gravel road. Its as near to heaven as you'll get in MB. The only pic I have is with my daughter, sorry!
A picture of the old home place where I was born in them thar hills. Still a few of these old abandoned farms around, makes a great day for exploring! Lots of wonderful memories this old shack holds, it burned to the ground 2 years ago.
I thought that was one of the houses in SPD... Crikey EastSider, ya sound like you was borned in the 20's, and lived with no running water and an outhouse. I'll bet ya also walked 10 miles to school each day, up hill each way, with no shoes in 10' feet of snow. Sure Rosen and J2F did, but you too? ;>
LOL Grumpy........born in 1963, so will hit the mid 40 mark in a month or 2! Lived here till mid 70's, no running water, no indoor plumbing, but we made do! Ya know, living like that builds good character, makes you appreciate so much what you have now!

Posted By: WinklovicSunset in Gimli, looking east from the drag strip.
They have drag in Gimli? What do the town folk think? Perhaps they are an offshoot of Islendigadagadurgan. We are an enlightened society aren't we? ;>
