Odors from cooking, baking, etc don't bother me much, but I cannot go into a Subway Joint, that is one odor I cannot stand, not sure what it is I'm smelling but its not pleasant to me.

It's probably curry and/or disinfectant (same smell in McDonalds).

My daughter worked at a Subway and came home smelling of the place. I think it's a vinegar/dough kind of smell.

Rule of thumb when buying anything with seafood...if it stinks, it's bad. I stopped eating meat in 5 months ago, don't miss it at all.

Funny Nordsee comes originaly from my Hometown Cuxhaven and later moved to Bremerhaven which was another "province".

As well as Cuxhaven was in the british controlled sector and bremerhaven was the american controlled sector back in the days before the reunion...

I'd say it's better (or at least different) than McDonalds. The ones in Vienna are usually full, and they also have a decent salad bar.
The McDs in Italy make soggy fries and the bread is chewy. I miss the Hot Apple Pie, it was the only reason that brought me there to eat something.
There used to be a Wendy's in Venice, but it closed.
They built a Dairy Queen near Monfalcone back in around 1995, but then closed down before opening...
There are Burger Kings elsewhere but the portions are 1/4 the size of the pictures on display...

Boy I could go for a A&W Teenburger now...

I was in Rome in 2000, and while walking through town with a Swede, she said, ' Have you seen the American Embassy? ' and she pointed across the street.
    It was a McDonald's.

:P Canadians and Nords have the same senses of humour

Do people think Subway is healthy eating? I've always though it's better (as in more nutritious) but still their bread is not whole grain, they have head lettuce which has next to no nutritional value, and their other veggies look kinda yucky. Their meats are if not all processed, nearly all processed. And they do have "real" cheddar (but it has dye in it) but a fair number of locations that have cheap owners never buy it and say "sorry we're out" because it costs more.

A scandal just came out here in Italy about old putrified cheeses that were returned to process cheese factories to process the famous process cheese slices. Now ain't that a process?

ASCA) - Rome, 4 lug - Continue surveyings of the Financial police of Cremona on the business of damaged cheese, from the Lombardy province, it has been involved in all the Belpaese and Europe. ' ' Our surveyings, are not sluices. The inquiry is not a sluice - it has said to ASCA the provincial commander of the Financial police of Cremona, Mauro Santonastaso - and is up above all to the magistrate who has a full investigation' '. With a business of 11 thousand tons of ' ' cheese masses' ' worked in two years, tens of persons inquired, involving big companies and a turnover from tens of millions of euro ' ' it's necessary - Santonastaso adds - that this vicissitude not only comes monitored like social fact. It's necessary that the competent organs reflect until there are participations more drastic in the phase of control and production' '. Draft of an inquiry begun for case, to November of 2006, when the yellow flames of left from the Tradel di Casalbuttano and directed Cremona checked in a truck in the Megal di Vicolungo, in province of Novara. The soldiers find themselves a show ' ' disgusting' '. ' ' The cheese - Santonastaso tells - beyond to being past expiration date was in advanced state of organic decomposition' '. But, it reassures the commander, ' ' there have been other factories involved in the inquiry, comprised that of Casalbuttano. But surveyings are continuing' '.

I used babel fish for translation and then rearranged it a bit because it hardly made any sense

(sarcasm) Really? That happens here and now in CANADA? (/sarcasm)
from which planet are you coming?
Show me one Cheddar which has no dye in it, Cheddar is originally and still colored with carotene hence the orange color. undyed cheddar should be called something else ;-)
If you want some healthy/wholesome chow you'll definitely won't find it for cheap at subway.

And I thought it was only me! Subway is the only restaurant/joint that I can't stand the smell. Weird!

It's not only you. I actually like Subway but the smell always vaguely reminds me of vomit for some reason.

Now that you all mention it, I've noticed that smell too...it is very distinctive. But then again, a lot of fast food joints have their own "distinctive" odor that never seems to vary...McDonald's is another.

At the Pita Pit you can request romaine instead of head lettuce (same price). But they do a double-take.
