    http://www.winnipegsun.com/News/Winnipeg/2008/06/20/5934411-sun.html

A 13-year-old boy was fighting for his life in hospital yesterday after he was severely beaten and dropped into a dumpster in an inner-city alley earlier in the day.

There are sick people out there no doubt but at the same time never forget that there are lots of beautiful, kind and loving people out there as well.

I just wish the news would focus more on them instead of this....
  2.
Of course you're right BSM. Trouble is we don't seem to want to read "Johnny gave Mary roses last night as he met her". Rather we need to read "Johnny shoots Mary after declining his advances"...

There is a great magazine out there called "ODE'. There slogan is 'For intelligent optimists'. The magazine focuses on all the good things going on in the world. Instead of focusing on the people that are slaughtering each other they focus on the people that have made peace and are making it work. Stories about Israeilis and Palestinian's working together, countries in africa doing things right and getting out of poverty, small businesses that are changing business practices and suceeding. All stuff you would never see on the normal news.

Me personally, i don't have a tv and i don't bother to read all of this news. I suspect if everyone was to do the same we would enjoy a much more pleasant world.

What??? And you call yourself a Canadian? Geeze, next you'll tell us you are a vegetarian and wear only hemp clothing! Friggen communist. ;>

But you do have a computer and get edumacated at the University of new winnipeg dot com. You're forgiven.

I shouldn't say i don't have a tv. we just don't get anything but the cbc on our tv. we use it to watch movies and rent the occasional tv show...

and yes, i get all my education right here...

well another good reason to Move to the Peg..

Call me crazy, but i honestly think that I feel better since i stopped watching tv (and especially the news). I used to be one of those guys that watched newsworld nonstop. Explosion, after beheading, after rape, after explosion....not having that in my life I swear is making me happier and lightening the burden just a bit.
  7.
Then stop reading these bits. Some of them are uber-depressing to the max dude.
  8.
Yes, yes they are...i didn't click on the story above....never do.

Why? Don't you think we're in the same situation right here on the web? The first thing I check out when I hook up is "the latest earthquakes in the world." Followed by this forum, in a near second place. Then after I've read almost everything and after I've pressed refresh about a thousand times, I slowly move on to other sites, or I go to bed because it's usually way past my bedtime by then...

if you think that is sick, how about the severed FOOTS being washed up to shore in Vancouver? It was on CNN...

weird stories like these in the news dont help anything when you read them. There are always sick and demented people out there.

I try and focus on larger problems that can actually be changed one day.
