I love Don Cherry, he is a good guy. He knows the game and no one can refute that. What he really should do is retire, maybe teach young kids about the game, like a Hockey school. He is a well known man and could probably do well freelance with all the networks that broadcast NHL. The unfortunate thing is the good play by play announcers usually cover everything he says, but they do it during the game.
I remember years ago there was one if not several Don Cherry sportsbars (lounges?) here in Winnipeg, one was right near the Regent and Lag corner. Did it go bust quickly? Anyone recall this?
Don Cherry is that uncle everyone has. He's kind of a loudmouth and occasionally says something stupid or racist, probably because of his era. But basically his heart's more or less in the right place, and he really does love talking about hockey.
I don't enjoy watching him much anymore, but I'm glad knowing he's out there.
