Canadians are some what more discrete but are just as bad as they say power corrupts. It is sad that we have allowed it to get to this point with politics and have given control over to them . there has to be some fundamentle changes with the way we do things respect has to come back. We have gotten to self oreinted and need to really learn to give again in the true way our time, life doe,s not need to be this busy.
Well, since the conversation is going, its really simple. Family values are whatever your family values. Who really cares if some American politician is putting the wood to some bimbo. Thats between him and or her and their family and the electorate. If a Canadian minister is dating someone who has formerly dated bikers (good for him once you've seen her picture), who's business is that, unless there is somehow a breach of security. Judge your politicians at election time. From what I've seen of Gary Doer, I think that his family values are very similar to mine, but I can't stand his politics, so I would never vote for him.
Wasn't it RC who stated in another thread, that the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation?
Even Barbara WAWA had a black married boyfriend as it turns out. Perhaps it's time to lose the 'mask' and just carry on like the Europeans - and EXPECT infidelity
You're looking for perversity where none exists. If you want to see a truly disturbing children's program, try this one from BBC: http://youtube.com/watch?v=c_1QyOQDx6w
Yes: He never invites "little kids" into his house, and recognises the television barrier between himself and the viewer. He does not wear slippers, but rather shiny dress shoes. He never engages in puppet-play with the audience; puppetry takes place in the Land of Make-Believe.
Furthermore, the use of quotation marks is often used to represent a skeptical or alternate meaning. Coupling this with the fact that Mr. Rogers has more than one puppet suggests that "puppet" is a stand-in for something else that Mr. Rogers has 'one of'. The conversation that follows directly after your comment details "trusted" people being in situations that do not represent 'family values' (ie. Sex scandals).
I really think that when politicians yammer about family values, they are probably talking about the "ideal", life situation? But when you think about it, there is no such thing as ideal, because that involves someone deciding what they think is ideal! I guess one should look at the whole world, and take an average of what goes on and then call that lifestyle a family value lifestyle? Even that does not work! There is no such thing as a "family value" lifestyle! It is all B.S.! Can anyone explain to me what the discussion on Mr. "dead" Roger's is all about?
