What is everyone up to this May long weekend?

The weather is suppose to be fabulous! I am planning on getting my garden started...with a few beer breaks of course. :-)

Heading down to the Twin Cities.

Haven't been there in two years...just going for the hell of it, with some sightseeing (museums and galleries), shopping, Valleyfair, going out, and participating in a fun-run on the agenda.

Yard work/gardening for sure...plus the wine or beer breaks (depending on my mood). Throw a BBQ in there too. Maybe head out to a park for the day if it is nice enough.

The yard work is basically done. It's now time to relax and enjoy the patio. Perhaps a martini or two will be consumed around the outdoor fireplace.

Hopefully you're not camping in St. Ambroise Beach or Paint Lake Provincial Park.

Manitoba Conservation reports Paint Lake Provincial Park campground, located south of Thompson, will not open for the May long weekend due to snow in the campground and roads which are too soft for vehicles. Weather and ground conditions permitting, the park is expected to open May 23.

St. Ambroise Beach Provincial Park campground, located on the southeastern shore of Lake Manitoba, is scheduled to open June 1.

Seasonal campers and reservation customers are being contacted by the province.

Detailed information on campground opening dates and rules are available at www.manitobaparks.com.

WinterPeg nothing, Paint Lake is the sub-arctic, and St Amroise is probably flooded.

    Here's a great burger recipe.....

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck or ground round ( I use extra lean)
3 tablespoons fine dry bread crumbs (I use Italian bread crumbs)
    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    2 tablespoons grated onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, optional ( I use fresh garlic)
2 tablespoons tomato juice (I use clamato and Franks)
    seasoned salt and pepper
    They are awesome!

You could probably substitute turkey in my recipe...I may have to try that!

I usually use oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs, and onion soup mix. Nice idea with the clamato... i gotta try that!
