Personally, IMHO, I think there needs to be better training and guidelines for the application of Tasers. And potentially even consequences for making the wrong decision.
  1.
That is what the cops are moving to, after so many problems.
I am sure that those officers that "killed" Dzienski, are wasted as officers!
  2.
    Naw...they'll probably get promoted.

WOW, a step in the RIGHT direction.

    http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada/story.html?id=645644

N.S. to restrict Tasers to violent incidents only

HALIFAX -- Nova Scotia has placed an immediate interim restriction on the use of Tasers to "situations of violent or aggressive resistance or active threat that may cause serious injury" to a police officer or another person.
  4.
My guess is there will suddenly be a surge in violent or aggressive resistance and/or active threats that may cause serious injury to a police officer or another person.

    But, we can hope....
  5.
Ever watch COPS? Every take down, no matter how submissive the perp, you will hear "quit resisting".

    meanwhile in new Brunswick

cops shoot first ( twice) adn then realize bullets are not stopping him so they taZe him

    http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2008/07/11/6134376-cp.html

So...if the cops shoot first and taZe second...what does that say about their feelings towards the weapons?
  6.
    That's wacked!
  7.
Does that mean only the most violent cops get the Taser gun?

That is how I read it !

That seems what we should expect!

Hell, if bullets won't stop the suspect, time to use the shotgun!!

Tasers still are not all that safe, despite the protestations of the manufacturer. Let them try the units out on the management.

Agreed. If someone isn't healthy enough to take a taser, they still have a good chance of living a lot longer un-tasered.

That's like saying it's someone's fault they couldn't take a baseball bat to the skull. Generally speaking - this is not something that is expected of people on a consistent basis.

    Neither is tasering.

what a bunch of cowards, they cant control a 49 yr old blind woman?!?!

and now the lady is being charged...those cops in the states are out of hand.
  9.
When the Police act irresponsibly, they will charge you to try and cover up their misdeeds. Many charges are dropped after a time period.

Do you remember a short time back when a Wpg CBC TV camera man was charged because he was taking pictures of some police action. That charge was dropped!

In the heat of some actions , I think that a part of a policeman's brain stops functioning!

    Yea, that is it!

A bunch of cops tasered a blind 49 yr old woman??? Was she carrying her loot down the hallway? What was she charged with? Being in the way of a brain-dead cop with a lethal weapon?

Wonder if this'll make national news. So how many deaths by taser is this now?
