No point, but interesting. Europe invaded America in the 15th, 16th and the 17th centuries, and Japan invaded in the 20th century.
Over the past few years (21st century) there have been many incidents of Mexico invading the U.S. and as well, the 19th century.

My wife and daughters invade the States every summer and return with cheap chinese pillaged goods. So far, I have refused to participate in their hedonistic behaviour.

Why not, we survived the Yugo and the Lada, not to mention autos from some other countries. Might as well give everyone a crack at the local market. Remember the early Datsuns and Toyotas? When you stood next to them you could hear them rusting.
In the meantime I'll continue to drive my American built land yacht...although I don't know for how much longer given the price of gas. (err, would that be because of a U S invasion?)

Sam, that was exactly my point, the first few years of Chinese autos will be hell til the bugs and kinks are worked out.

    rosencrents, you missed a few:

    Grenada
    Dominican Republic
    Haiti
    Afghanistan
    Philippines
    Laos.
    Mexico
There are quite a few other countries not quite invaded, but still the US took action against: Guatemala, Chile, Congo. That list is quite long:

A surprising number of "American" built cars are built right here in the great white north...

My guess is they'll avoid many of the bug-filled years the Japanese enjoyed.

    Good call GOG, and rsncrntz.

These are just a few among the many reasons i'm suspicious of any of that "regime change freedom and democracy" rhetoric.

Also, I think you could throw the Congo in there, though I believe that was more British than US.

The overthrow, by force, of a democratically elected gov't that was a bit too lefty for our tastes. (And the last democratic elections, thanks to our meddling, for 50 years).

The US has had no problem in the past replacing freedom and democracy with dictatorships. Guatemala in 1954 being a good example.

That would be Belgian Congo. The US (CIA) helped kill the president of the day. That was the early sixties and the place is still a mess.

Invasions are a certainty, but what about their "stay behind" operations?

    ah...Operation Gladio...

    from TerrorStorm -

    http://www.getuptospeedfast.com/video_summaries/terrorstorm.php#operation_gladio

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7048572757566726569

"Operation Gladio was an umbrella name for literally hundreds of bombings carried out by Western Intelligence agencies and NATO in Italy, Western Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. From 1947 to 1981, Italian Presidents have gone public admitting Operation Gladio targeted innocent civilians and was to be blamed on leftists and communists. On November, 22, 1990, The European Parliament had a resolution condemning the activities of Operation Gladio. The former Italian Intelligence Chief has come clean concerning Gladio's actions as well. Many other countries have declassified documents concerning Gladio.

"It is part of the public record that [the United States government] and other western governments targeted trains, busses, schools.. several times operatives zeroed in on school busses, knowing that images of dead children would get the population angry and ready to relinquish their liberties. A particularly bloody bombing at the central station of Bania, Italy in the morning of August 2, 1980, which killed 85 people and wounded more than 200, caused some officials to break their silence and begin to expose just a small part of this wicked operation."

ohhh....but they would never do anything like 9/11...

The United States is the largest single exporter of terrorism that the entire globe has even known. If you don't like what the U.S. has to say; you are obviously their enemy and should therefore be invaded with your elected officials executed.

The U.S. tried 3 or 4 times to invade Canada, each time we retaliated and sent them back with their collective tails tucked right between the legs of the retreating cowards. Should they try again, they would indeed become the most hated country on the Globe. The trade embargo resulting from that would cripple the entire economy of the U.S. forever.

Our former P.M. Jean Chretien, when asked by Prez Bush to help out with the aftermath of 9/11, said NO, Canada will not help; the look on Bush's face was priceless because he thought that we'd jump to the assistance of the U.S. Where was the U.S. when Britain was being pounded into oblivion back in WW2? They sat back and did NOTHING until Pearl Harbour FORCED them into the conflict. And just before that, the U.S. was conducting back-door negotiations with Nazi Germany to discuss how trade would be handled after Germany won the war!
The only reason the U.S. was brought into WW1 was because British P.M. Churchill arranged for no escort for the Lusitania in the North Atlantic, which was then sunk by German Submarines along with a massive load of armaments destined for Britain.

Don't give me any crud about the U.S. having the "moral authority" to police the world! THEY HAVE NONE! Morals that is.
    Thank you for your consideration!
