I was threatened with that about 11 yrs ago, seems someone thought there was no food in this house, and my kids were sleeping on the floor.... what a surprise for the Social Workers when they arrived and found a fully furnished home and the freezers full of food!

Now back to Texas: the children ought to stay in the care and control of the state because of the "out of context" and "disgusting" thought processes of the community leaders, both male and female. The "female leaders" are allowing their own daughters to be sexually assaulted by these dirty old men because of the "previous brainwashing" by those same old men.

This entire circumstance is only for the sexual gratification of these DIRTY OLD MEN, nothing more, nothing less.

The children, male and female, MUST be removed from the influences of the revolting leaders for their own protection, and to bring them into mainstream society, as bad as that mainstream is, it's better by far than living in a cloistered community.

I believe that the children were, and still are, in danger of sexual exploitation. From that alone, they must be protected.

Ahh.. but here is the rub... The court said that there was basically no reason to do anything other then act on the one complaint from the one child. Soooo... and evidence that the police found when they were in fact searching illegally... means that evidence is thrown out.... so... did we know for certain there was abuse and such before they illegally raided? No...rumors.. yes.. but know for sure? No... Now we know for sure.. but.. we know illegally.. so now what?
  1.
Isn't there an Appeal process in Texas? They should kick it up to a higher court I would hope.
  2.
The complaint came from Laura Bush, and there was no evidence of abuse! The whole thing was a scam by the right wing "holier than thou" priests!

Who's priests? The CLDS? or the local outcasts?

Perhaps we should just rub out the U.S. and start from scratch?
  3.
No one is allowing their daughters to be sexually assaulted! Their belief is to listen to the grand muphty, as he is speaking with God! It is a very simple thing!
"Our" religious beliefs are what count, and because they all have the same hairdo, and the same style dresses, they are wrong and we are right!
The proof of the whole thing is that 50% of our marrriages end in divorce, 37% are accomodations, and the last 13% are very happy, therefore we are right and they are wrong!
    The Muslims have it right!

I'd like to know what you've been smoking, ok? I want to avoid that stuff altogether!! WHEW!!

The laws are stated that Polygamy is not allowed, simple and straightforward, ok? The thought of 40+ yr old men bedding down 15 and 16 yr old girls is just disgusting!! And to have several "spiritual wives"?

Cut those old buggers off at the crotch!! Not only are they disgusting; they're PERVERTS!!

Monominto- you misunderstand what I am saying! If anyone bothered to take that polygamy law to court, and challenged it, it would be reversed, you know that!! That has been published in B.C., where the provincial government had an outside opinion, if Canada's law could be enforced, and the answer was clear- that law violates our constitutionial rights.
As far as I understand the polygamy law has been taken care by one marriage and the rest are common law .
As far as dirty old men, and there are quite a few on this newwinnipeg.com, that might take offence at that statement, your distaste is a reflection of your personal upbringing.
I do not personally agree with that practise, but as far as I am concerned, that is their religious belief, and we have nothing to say! You are reading the lies, that those lying lyars are printing. I believe that they are not marrying at under the legal age of 14, if that is what our Canadian law is. What the age in the U.S. is, I am not sure, but again if that is their religion than that is their religion.
They do not knock on my door too often trying to convert me, but even that is their religion ,in trying to get converts, and is their business.
I do not think that we Christians and Jews, and Muslims, and ............., have the right to force our beliefs on any group.

That was not at all troll-like, especially when compared to Jimmytufish's. But perhaps because I don't have the same politics as you two, it's all of a sudden trolling.

Some of you are still missing the point of this sub-cult offshoot of the Mormon Religion: They ( the dirty old men ) want to have sex with as many young ladies ( 16 - 20 yr old ) as they can before they croak. Are you not cognizant of the potential various birth defects that this large age difference may result in the babies?
Never mind the legalities of the situation, or whether or not it would survive a court challenge. These perverts in any other city would have been dragged out into the streets and beaten by the brothers and fathers of the girls they have molested! It may have been "consensual" sex, with each and every one of those young ladies, after they have had a lifetime of indoctrination to the "lifestyle", but that makes it no less disgusting.
  14.
It is disgusting only to those who "think" it is disgusting, and not to those who have studied cultural differences, across the world!
    Don't you see that?

    Do you find other cultures:
that have women completely covered up disgusting?
Or where the women are told that they can have only one child?
Or where female babies have been put outside to freeze to death.

The problem with the mind, is some people assume what they were taught is the only "normal" thing!
