Have to agree with Mono, as stated before, this is not about religion, this is not about sex between consenting "adults", this is a cult which has some pretty convoluted ideas, but basically takes advantage of girls.

Not sure of Bush's involvement, but if it makes you feel better to blame him, go ahead. I'd think he has other things to personally deal with other than a bunch of pervs putting it to underage girls in the name of their religion.

Rosencrentz: you seem to think I was part of that cult? NO WAY would I allow one of those perverts close to my daughters!!
You say that we are judging them by our standards? I will plead "GUILTY" to that, I have a higher standard of morals than they do!
You claim that Bushman and his cronies are sticking their noses into business that isn't in their jurisdiction? Got new flash for you! IT IS IN THEIR JURISDICTION!!

Sounds more likely to me, that you want to get in on the action! Shame on you!!

Go to your corner, I'll let you know when you can come out!

I do have some sociological reservations about polygamy.

It would be fine if it was practiced both ways. That is to say, women can marry multiple men as well as the other way around. But that never happens. It is always one man with many wives. This poses a mathematical problem: gender probability is 50/50, so it would be impossible for every married man on earth to have several wives unless...

    1. The competition for wives becomes so fierce that men start killing each-other.
    2. There is some sort of selective abortion or mass abandonment of male babies.

Neither solution is viable. Check out the Bible, Man (singular) will cleave to his Woman (singular) and Woman (singular) to her Man (singular) . From my interpretation: one man to one woman, am I wrong?

This splinter group of Mormons have taken a MAN-MADE doctrine and carried it up to present-day society, creating their own warped-minded community who are totally fearful of "outsiders".

This programming of the families is going to take a long time to heal.

This is already happening in the FLDS community.

They just wait until the boys are 18 and then kick them out of the church.

And then leave them alone with no other responsible adults to guide them? DANG just what we need: a "lost tribe" of young men running all over the countryside looking for females!!

Get real!! It's time for the CLDS to get with the rest of civilization! Their own doctrine seems to give them "special status" in the rights to heaven: BULLCRAP!!

Track down these perverts, chop them off just below the crotch, no more of their kind on the planet!! As for the children already here? Distribute them into regular society. Make sure they know that their "leaders" were demented creeps.

The problem is in believing in the Bible! Who wrote it? What about the Hindu, the Muslim, and the other 40 religions?
In the 1880's when the Doukhabours came to North America, from Russia, they believed in multiple wives, and they conformed, by having one legal wife, and then living common-law with the rest.
I think the FLDS has done the same thing.
I believe in religious freedom, and the state staying out of the bedroom of consenting ADULTS, but I do not have the answer regarding older men and young girls, who have no idea of what we believe should be! (I have no interest), maybe Grumpy and Grumpy and J2F?, lol)
There was an interview of an FLDS couple that I saw yesterday, and there was nothing unusual going on,except she was 17 and he was 16 when they were married.
The 463 children taken away from their parents in Texas, Bush country, and the reports that are coming out of that area, are all bullcrap, in my opinion.
The reports are unsubstantiated, and are obvious to me coming from the dumb ass police department, who have ripped these kids from their "loving" parents.
Has anyone seen on TV any interviews done with the parents?? Where is the fair and balanced reporting by the best news people in the world (CNN's take on their programs)?
The Texas police are probably going to move those 463 children into the empty schoolrooms we have in Canada, that Canada used to put the Aboriginals under the very watchful eye of the Catholic Church! Yes, that should work!

Pretty dramatic leap in thinking RC! While some are talking religion, thats fine, thats their belief, but you seem to ignore that older guys are taking the younger girls as "wives" and just dismiss it, as "oh well."

Also, it seems that your anti-Bush rhetoric is getting the best of you in this discussion.
  4.
My anti-Bush is related to the fact that Bush is from Texas, and this action is in Texas!
Remember Bush is the one that has prevented Doctors from doing research, because of the use of the umbilical cord, because of his religious beliefs.
Now that is scary, when you allow religion to get in the way of scientific research.
Bible thumpers , thump only about their own religion, and haven't got the common sense to say- there are lots of religions, believing lots of things, and that is fine, but keep it in "our" Church house!

Regarding older guys and youger wives- I agree with you, but I would like to know how do we know that? Those reports "may" be coming from those "lying, liars", as they are being called!
"Facts not in evidence?" Very tough to prove, but putting 463 children into strangers homes, is a great way to start!
  5.
Simple solution is to send all those 18 year old male castoffs to the Palomino Club.
They'll be calling to their saviour in no time.

    Or down to Teasers?

Hey RC, maybe the lying liars are making up all that stuff about Bush, how do you tell the truth from the bs?

The law governing marriages in Texas were around LONG before Bush-head came on the scene!

Don't blame that twit too much, though, he's a human-form chimp in disguise, IMHO!

The leaders of the CLDS who promote polygamy are perverts, that's all: over-sexed, dirty old men who can't get it up without the woman being under the age of 16!

The people in Bounty apparently receive a good chunk of change from Welfare. Each woman claims and the cash is handed over to the 'husband'...pretty good scam as far as I'm concerned.

Women should be turning all of their money over to their husband. It is more natural for the men to look after the finances!

    lol

Its best for the women on this forum to deal with that last comment.

Rosencrentz: for that last remark; THOU ART EIN TWIT!

Monominto, sorry I have been away, and did not see that cutting remark! I have been chastised for too many CAPITALS, too much !!!!!!!!!, and too many sexist remarks, so I was just testing the waters. I asked what if I used a lol, after my sexist remarks, and was told that it would be better, so I added a lol up above, to make your remark seem cruel!!!!!!!!

Interesting situation in Texas today, where the Texas Court declared that the state taking 460 kids from their parents was illegal, having no basis in law. The children were not in any danger!!
I love when the state pushes honest, loving, religious people around, cause a huge amount of damage, and now hopefully will face a billion dollar lawsuit.
I am not sure what group filed this writ of mendatious, not sure if that is what they called it, but thank GOD,( lol), for some sane judges!
Can you imagine children's aide walking in to your home and removing your children?
