If he remembers her last name.. try searching the newspaper obits... cant remember the one site that has most of them from the last few years...its advertised on the left hand side of this site quite often though
This was so long ago, but perhaps someone will remember being so poor during the "dirty 30's" the only thing available to play hockey with was a chunk of frozen horse manure? According to dad, when they hit the shins: the bruises lasted for DAYS! LOL
Dad remembers riding his bike out from Sherburn and Ellice with his buddies out to Lockport for a day of fishing, said that they fought the wind all the way there, and all the way back as well, lol. Most of the time, the fish they caught were almost rotten arriving in Wpg.

My Dad was telling us stories the other day of riding his bike to Kirkfield park from Broadway and Spence....he also remembers taking the streetcar all the time. He has some great stories from back then.....even though I've heard them all before, they are all new for my hubby.
Taking the streetcar cost a nickel back then, in the "dirty thirties" no one had money, they walked everywhere or rode a bike if they had one. When dad started working for Trans-Canada Airlines it was a long bike ride out to Stevenson Airfield along Ellice Avenue. He and I went to the old buildings a few weeks ago...... brought back some fond memories for him.
