    Nine Inch Nails are coming to MTS Centre on July 31st!!! And The Hives will be playing the Burton on May 20th....

    It's quite impressive, the number of shows that are rolling through town these days. Seems like many more than a few years ago. Combination of the new arena and high Canadian Dollar I guess.

    I plan on going to a lot of shows in the next few months, including Julie Doiron tomorrow, followed by Minus the Bear tomorrow, Danny Michel on Wednesday, and in the next little while Todd Snider, New Model Army, Sarah Slean, MIA, Iron Maiden, and the Folk Festival (except for the day Mark Knopfler is at the Concert Hall).

    And of course, Kids in the Hall on April 27.

    I don't even know yet - a friend bought the tickets. All i know is that it's "not floor" - which as i get older, is a good thing.

    The floor for this show is standing only, no chairs. Last time I had such tix, it was the White Stripes and I was quite comfortable at the front of the stage, no squished or among raging metalheads. Heaven & Hell had standing room and I was happy not to be on the floor then!

    I think I've been to three arena shows that had non-seated floors: Kiss, AC/DC, and the Sex Pistols, all at the Pacific Collisseum in Vancouver. I don't need to be on the floor to enjoy the show, in fact I think I probably enjoy it more where I don't have to fight for my own little section of real estate.

    Anyone enjoy the Minus the Bear show? A bit of a delay due to a blown amp, but otherwise I had a good time. I still think they should be playing to a larger crowd.

    My cousin and her boyfriend went. She said it was really good. She was happy that they had a bit of late start because they went after the Hawksley Workman concert that we had all been at. They only ended up missing two songs but still got in at half price, lol.

    Hawksley was amazing as always. I love that man.

    Im glad I didnt go to Minus The Bear, they are decent enough(minus the terrible vocals), but the show I saw last night was way too fun to miss. We went to some small town bar outside of Steinbach to see the Waking Eyes play, they did the Blue Album by Weezer in its entirety for their second set, sounded spot on and was one of the coolest things ive seen in ages.

    I didn't end up making it to the Albert last night either...I went to the Julie Doiron show and then stopped off for some beers at the Lo Pub. I dunno who the DJ was, but it's been a while since I heard "Ever Fallen In Love" by the Buzzcocks played in a bar - good job!

    The Hives pre-sale password in Calgary is "tick"... not sure if they are the same for all other venues.

    Hawksley was amazing as always.


    I think he played 2 sold out shows. I hope to catch him next time.

    Last time I saw NIN at the MTS Center the show was amazing. Im not a huge fan, but the lights and the sounds was one of the best Ive heard.

    You guys and gals should also check out M.I.A. at the Burton. She came here, but I missed it, but a lot of people I know said it was incredible.

    Anyone going to see Caribou? I think he was previously known as Manitoba (not to be confused with Handsome Dick Manitoba.) The FuckButtons are opening and I kinda like what I've heard from their current album.
