I'm still thinking about it. And there's also New Model Army on Wednesday. I'm not their biggest fan, but I do like some of their stuff, and it's not like they spend a lot of time on this side of the ocean!
I see he's opening in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary...but not here. I really hope he does get confirmed here--he'd be worth the price of admission alone.
And if Liam and Noel brawl on stage, then even better.
Ive seen Caribou/Manitoba twice at the pyramid. Both pretty good shows, but I thought the 1st one was better. Its cool seeing the band recreate the electronic based music. Pretty cool visuals I remember too.
If you like Caribou, check out the Russian Futurists -
the sound on Youtube is crappy, so you dont get the proper depth to their music online.
their album "Our Thickness" and 'Me Myself & Rye" are both highly addictive that are filled with memorable playful schoolyard type melodies and pulsing beeping rhythms.
Oasis's "definitely Maybe" is such a good rock n roll album. I listed to it a lot when I was young. Id like to see them, but im too cheap to pay $40-50
CTV just reported that Ryan Adams is indeed opening the show. I'm very excited.
I know there are a lot of Oasis haters out there, but it's hard to deny that this is an incredible double bill. Can't think of one as good in years. Neko Case and Victoria Williams at West End about 6 or 7 years ago was pretty good...Any others?

I was there. Good double bill. Vicky looked really haggard, poor thing. Not sure I would describe Oasis and Ryan Adams as an "incredible double bill" but to each his own. The Bad Plus and Joshua Redman, now that was a smokin' show. Tom Cochran & Red Rider opening for Mellencamp was a treat. The openers actually played an encore, something I don't see too often.
It's been a great year-or-so for concerts. I finally saw both Bon Jovi and Collective Soul (old favourites that I had never seen live), plus I also saw Danny Michel, Regina Spektor, Sarah Slean with the WSO, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Mute Math, Cary Brothers, Joshua Radin, Ingrid Michaelson, Meiko, Raine Maida, Billy the Kid, Hawksley Workman, Lacuna Coil, and The Gathering... and I'll be seeing Sarah Slean twice more, Dream Theater, Opeth, Iron Maiden, and Wynton Marsalis coming up in May/June.
The fact that many of those shows were/are in Winnipeg is a huge plus that a few years back wouldn't have been possible (at least not in such a short span). And the fact that many other shows came through town that I would've wanted to see but couldn't afford because of all these OTHER shows is also amazing.
I really should see Oasis, too... maybe I can find a way to score free tickets. :P
One thing we haven't had here for a while is a huge stadium show. I believe U2 was the last one...about ten years ago. There were a ton in the 90s--The Stones twice, Pink Floyd, McCartney, and U2, but nothing since. Does this reflect a change in concert trends (ie, bands choosing smaller venues), or are stadium acts skipping over the city?
I'd say that Ryan Adams and Oasis is a pretty terrible double bill actually. Now Radiohead and Liars in Vancouver or Radiohead and Grizzly Bear in Montreal (going to both), now those are some incredible double bills.
Well, everyone is obviously entitled to an opinion, but once glance at my cd collection would reveal that Oasis and Ryan Adams are two of my favorites, and I'll proudly be among the first to call for tickets tomorrow morning.
