Posted By: slowdive101I'm really excited that Calexico is coming this year. Overall, though, it's not the greatest lineup.

Why don't you think it's a good lineup? Have you listened to all the bands?
Cause I'm looking at the same lineup and it looks good to me. There are links on the Folk Fest performer list to bands websites and Myspace accounts, check some of them out.

Well, there's two categories of music for me at FF.

One--bands/musicians I know and love. Big names that I'd see at FF, or anywhere they'd play. Recent names include Neko Case, Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, and this year, Calexico.

The other category is the Folk Fest Finds--performers you'd never heard of, but leave the festival having bought one or two of their albums. Dan Bern comes to mind. I'd never heard of him before I saw him at FF, but I've been a huge fan ever since.

This year, the lineup is surely short on the first category. I'll tell you on the Monday after FF my thoughts on category 2.

Regardless of the music quality, however, I go every year, and always love it. The music is only half of the fun for me.

A Hack and a Hacksaw is Jeremy Barnes, of Bright Eyes and Neutral Milk Hotel - instant indie-rock cred. It also has some connection to Zach Condon (Beirut). I'm looking forward to it

The Fugitives are great - they're also playing at the WECC on Wednesday.

Little Freddie King is an awesome Bluesman on Fat Possum Records.

Danny Michel is one of my favourite performers. He's here this week as part of Vinyl Cafe and he's also playing the West End in April.

Other really great songwriters on this list are Jesse Sykes, Elvis Perkins, and Geoff Berner.

None of you folks know David Grisman? He is THE greatest mandolin player today, worth the price of admission alone in my book. You gotta remember I'm an old hayseed from back in the hills!

Your kids will have a blast. That's cool that you guys play a diversity of music like that for them.

The quiet campgrounds are nice, make sure you book them early cause those spots get taken fast.
The beach is close by also.

I love exposing them to different things....my daughter is a HUGE dim sum fan, my son not so much. We try and expose them to different types of food, music etc. We haven't played much punk for them yet....my hubby is a huge punk fan. We have quite the cd collection. I am thinking we will take them this year....

Im not sure the whole story about the UFO suit. I went to school with him ages ago. I heard about it earlier in the day from another friend who told me to watch out for our old school buddy's UFO suit at night.

Thems be some bigass smurfs! They look a bit bigger than their usual "three apples tall" ;)
