Posted By: FreethinkerIts really simple. Norad is supposed to protect the air space, and they completely failed on that day.
How do you protect against what happened that day?
2.
GOM, that line is a quote from an earlier post from Zwikster. It just didn't come out as a quote, my bad. My point is that NORAD doesn't defend against domestic scheduled flights, and I wonder how the truthers can explain their statement.

Anytime a flight goes off course, there are alarm bells.

The Pentagon is the most secure airspace in the world....you cant fly anything off course near it or even towards it...thinkaboutit.

so if an American hops in their (domestic) private plane, and fly it toward the white house, NORAD wont know?...or do anything about it? pfffft..

prior knowledge of 9/11 -

Well, there you go. I should have known.

So everytime a domestic flight goes off course, NORAD is supposed to shoot it down?? Looks like I'll be taking the train from now on.

shoot it down, no, but they will take appropriate actions...especially if there is a loss of contact also.
4.
And, what would the truthers consider to be "appropriate action"?

"Appropriate action" would include shutting down the airline industry if, as you suggest, the people entrusted to maintaining its security and safety are incapable of determining the difference between a hijacked airplane and one that has gone off-course for explainable reasons.
5.
But they did shut down the US airspace as soon as it was determined what happened.

Anyway, I really don't plan on getting into a discussion on this. I find it reprehensible that people can distort the events of 9/11 by claiming it to be some sort of US government conspiracy, that a free and democratic nation would sacrifice thousands of its own citizens to advance an agenda of war.

it is utterly incomprehensible that the events of that tragic day could have planned, organized and executed by agents of the state, and that to this day, no one has stepped out of the conspiracy of silence which truthers claim exists.

I continue to stand for the right of everyone to have and voice their opinion, and I have the right to vehemently state mine. Like the Holocaust deniers, I think the truthers should continue voice their opinions, and I say opinions because I see very little fact in their claims, because it allow the rest of us to see, in the light of day, what these people really are.

Lawmaker takes 9/11 doubts global

In January 2008 Fujita, a member of the Democratic Party of Japan, asked the Japanese Parliament and Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda to explain gaping holes in the official 9/11 story that various groups — including those who call themselves the "911 Truth Movement" — claim to have exposed.

Fujita, along with a growing number of individuals — including European and American politicians — are leading a charge to conduct a thorough, independent investigation of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

"One person showed strong anger towards me," Fujita noted, "and another (Japanese person) threatened my life. A few others advised me to be extremely careful."

Still, Fujita says, the vast majority — around 95 percent — have been positive.

"One man said, ‘You’re a true samurai.’ Another man came all the way from Okayama in western Japan to thank me personally. And among other Parliament members, I received only words of encouragement and support."
