Posted By: TheDogI was in LA a few years ago. I accidentally wandered into a rough area. Gang Territory where the kids put bullets in you just for fun, and the panhandlers don’t want your money, but your liver or heart.

Out of nowhere a cop car with flashing lights pulled over. The cop said they were monitoring me via their street camera’s and it was clear that I was a tourist and that I was lost, and in the worst part of the downtown, and that I should turn around.

I am glad they stopped me.

Its fortunate that there were police surveillance cameras in that dangerous area and that the police saw you & stopped you from entering the worst part of town. Interesting that although the area was monitored by police cameras, the area was still considered to be the worst part of town and so dangerous that you should not be there. Kind of a telling sign about how "effective" surveillance cameras are at making crime riddled neighborhoods safer.

camera's don't deter crime, they just catch criminals in the act and arrest them, only for the judges to release them back on the streets.

body scanners - see through your clothes -

"The body scanners are reminiscent out of something you’d see in the science fiction film Total Recall. The difference between the body scanners in Total Recall and the body scanners being deployed in real life is that the body scanners in Total Recall are actually less intrusive. The real life body scanners are a complete invasion of privacy and actually reveal a person’s naked body when they go through the scanners"

no, why would they want to make technology like that,,you know,,since Al CIAda will kill you before Cancer does! :P

ok, but in all seriousness, you are so right. Think about it people! Why in the hell are there not cancer type scanners instead of these bogus security check point scanners....It just shows how assbackwards our society is...

Heh... the health care and security departments can be amalgamated if the scanners scanned for both ;-)

I heard there was allegedly a meth lab brewing inside and it exploded. The cameras in question were located on the opposite side of the street pointing at this house, and were the subject of some media coverge earlier in the year. The couple involved moved out after some suggestions of invasion of privacy, beyond surveillance.

Hard to say what caused this, but probably not related to surveillance cameras. But you never know. Certainly there was a massive explosion in the house.
