According to the CBC, Centreventure is on the verge of a deal to redevelop the James St. Pumping Station.

Interestingly (or appallingly) it repurchased the Station in 2004 for $750,000 after selling it in 2001 for $150,000.

I'm curious as to what will happen in there...the pumping equipment inside is protected as I understand it, making it quite difficult to redevelop. It's not like it's a big warehouse that can be adapted to anything.

I'll choose to be appalled cbot.

So basically we're rewarding a developer for buying land (a building) and sitting on it, doing nothing with it. Great.

I think just one turbine is protected - they're were three or four all together so you would have a main floor with a fair bit of space. I sort of calls out restaurant / bar !

And I'll laugh at this quote:
"In the past, I don't believe in the position of the CEO they had a lot of experience or expertise. I believe now they do," he said. "I am quite confident that someone like Mr. McGowan could do a deal as well as someone like Sam Katz or any developer."
The way that is written, it seems like Katz is being called a developer. :)

Wentto Pastry castle the other day and asked Daniel where was the patio. It's on hold for now. The additional sating created by the patio means that his women's washroom needs two terlets instead of the one he has now ?! Good grief. It's not as if it's Earl's patio with dozens of people in and out drinking alcohol and the like. It's more of a sit and read a newspaper with coffee place. I hope he does whatever is needed soon. I like sitting on that patio with a coffee and schmoo !

Ahh, the beauty of using taxpayers money. CentreVenture should shut down. It's skewing the market. i think it was the Protos guy who did the buying and reselling of it. he also lifted some of the machinery that wasn't supposed to be moved.

Yeah you just hate to see 600k wasted like that, if Peter had any class or balls he would have donated it to some shelter or sold it back for 150K, that's a lil nicer way to say iam rich and dont need the $$$, than making 600k off taxpayers!!

Mr Nobody thanks for reminding of reason #69 for not going to the Pony Corall, besides the Pony's legendary and consistantly bad food .

Same number of seats, just some in the location where the customers want to sit? <br>Or put a porta-potty on the patio! j/k

If centure Venture had any brains they would put must develop clauses into the deals when it sells buildings...

ie we sell it to yo for 150K ... you have 3 years to develop... at which point it returns to us for free.

yeah... most municipalities have that sort of thing

Here is the plot of land.. you must have at least the foundation put down in 5 years or it returns to us. It just makes no sense that Centure Venture would not have that.

Heh ! I will suggest that to him ! I think they have the space to do it (at least the mens room has space for two or three bowls so if they had to they could just switch it around). Next time I go I will just take my own fold-out chair, and umbrella and a card table and make myself a patio !
