I think the point is Dean that your comment is essentially implying that all stores cater to all people. You're trying to create a syllogism which doesn't work.

Exactly. You don't have to be a genius to understand that. Few people in this city buy tropical fish, model trains or Rolex watches but somehow stores selling them remain in business.

Frankly, I'm surprised that this even needs to be explained.

sheesh... thats what I was trying to say....

East said... plus there is lots of yuppies so it fits nicely...

my comments was.. so all yuppies ride skateboards?

Now please tell me... How the comment "plus there is lots of yuppies" means anything at all if the assumption that all ( or a significant chunk) of them ride skateboards is not there?

Posted By: DeanKHow the comment "plus there is lots of yuppies" means anything at all if the assumption that all ( or a significant chunk) of them ride skateboards is not there?
Yuppies have disposal incomes, so they buy skateboards whether or not they ride them? ;-)

DeanK, don't you ever see Diet Pepsi commercials? Yuppies do everything that young people do.

That's how entertaining the exchange is going to be once that store opens up. Downtown will be revitalized.

Someone call Diet Pepsi to hipify The Exchange. I can see it now. Advertising permeating all of the public space. Ahhh, it would be glorious! (not).

East said "there are yuppies", which implies that there is another target/possible market. NOT that every single one of them will buy one.

Your comment afterwards - "so all yuppies ride skateboards" - implies that for the store to be successful it must sell to everyone within that target group.

At least cbot and Pedro got where I was going.

The yuppies will probably buy gifts for their nieces and nephews from there so that they can seem "hip".

People can spend their money anywhere they please, as long as they have it to spend!
I live in the burbs and go to Mondragon, The Kings Head, WalMart, Canadian Tire, PayLess Shoes, European Shoe Shop, Sushi Joints, MacDonalds, McNally's, Burton Lysecki's.. get my drift
    wanna see my debit statements?
