    >Apparently, "a vehicle hit their equipment" in Charleswood and there are a great number of customers affected in the >area. To add to my frustration, I was in the midst of buying a new vehicle, so I really needed a working phone, as I had a >bunch of dealers calling me back with offers. I call 611 and ask the lady if they will compensate me for my airtime on my >cell phone and her response to me is "we don't guarantee phone service, so S.O.L. and no, they won't compensate me for >my cell phone airtime because for all they know, I may be "abusing it". I'm 39 years old with 3 kids, I don't "abuse" my >cell phone...that just pissed me right off. So, I finally get through to a man (who's much more receptive and clearly NOT >PMS'ing) and he offers me a $25.00 credit on my phone bill to compensate me for the aggravation....thank you!

I'd be happy if they even just suggested a credit on the Cell bill.. geesh, is it really their fault if someone slams into a pole and destroys the phone line? (probably a stolen vehicle)
Chances are Shaw was affected too (they share the pole), so you wouldn't be much further ahead if you were on Shaw tel. + they don't even offer Cell phone service so you'd never see a credit anyway.
Good luck finding the perfect, flawless forever working never down not even for a second phone service. ;)

It's been a long, long time since I received a call from Shaw about my bandwidth usage, but the call arrived.

Looks like they allow 60 GB of download per month on the account that I have have, regular high-speed. I exceeded the limit recently. They suggested I could switch to the Extreme service which, offers twice the speed and 100GB of downloads, for an extra $10 a month.

The price seemed reasonable, so I went for it. I was planning on considering Extreme next year, when I plan to replace what will then be my 10 year-old computer with something more "frag-tastic," if you know what I mean.

Anyone else receive a call from Shaw lately about switching to Extreme, based on bandwidth usage?

I really don't download that much so I don't expect the call.
