Heh, I was wondering that too. I think my flicker hosted avatar disappeared or something I think it's the logo saying "picture is currently unavailable". Funny, I've noticed that today too and didn't figure out that my avatar was gone ! thanks for the heads up !

Had to have a chuckle at the article. And good for them getting press!

    http://winnipegfreepress.com/subscriber/business/local/story/4150222p-4739465c.html

Half Pints Brewing Co. is lowering its prices on the eve of beer-drinking season but don't accuse it of entering the province's long-standing price war.

Manitoba's only locally-owned microbrewery has no interest in battling Labatt, Molson and Minhas Creek for the discount segment of the market. It has, however, lowered its prices significantly because it has adopted the industry standard bottle and automated its processes.
    ...
Rudge said a six-pack of 341-ml bottles of Bulldog Amber Ale or Little Scrapper IPA sells for about $11.75 including taxes and deposit. Three of the big bottles contained roughly the same volume but sold for about $15.

$11.75 plus deposit is still an amazing price for some great micro brew!

It was $9.95 (before taxes) at my local LC.

I almost caused a fight when I nabbed the last 6-pack of Bulldog. :)

Anyone here make their own beer? I've been making my own for years. Great brew, exactly as I like it. (In my opinion, which is all that counts).

Added bonus feature: Tax free. $5.00 a dozen.

    I am a micro brewery!

I'm very pleased they are coming out with 341 ml bottles...I like to buy local and they make damn fine beer to boot! Another that I'm enjoying right now is Boulevard Brewing Pale Ale - it's the flagship beer from a Kansas City brewery I picked up in the US a while ago. It's a little bitter (which I like), but there is just a hint of orangey sweetness that comes through in the finish. When it runs out I'll go back to the Bulldog though!

Are they keeping both or just the 341 ? I ordered a bottle at LO and was surprised to seethe small bottle. Nice thing about the bigger ones is that you can buy them bottle at a time and if you just want a beer after work or are heading somewhere can bring an assortment.

One of the guys at my local LC said that they are keeping the large sizes.

He did tell me that the six-pack equals three of the larger bottles (roughly) for about $4 less.

I hate to be the lone dissenter(sp), but in all honesty, I find Half-Pints to be an absolutely intolerable beer.It is amazingly over-hopped, which I believe is done in order to hide its deficiencies. Great Beers that are high in "IBU's"( international bitterness Units) such as Anchor Steam, or Summit Pale Ale use hops to balance the the flavours of the malt, not to cover up "off tastes". I'm not one to sh*t all over local brands, I beleive that Agassiz Pilsner and Hefeweizen were world class products, unfortunately, the market wouldn't support them, and they went away. Want a good beer? unfortunately, you won't find one from around here!
