The community weeklies have FINALLY launched their new website! Hooray!
It's been in the works forever and the end result is pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. It's certainly easier to navigate than... well, every other news site I've come across.
This current week's paper is online, with several back issues also there. More back issues will be added as time goes on.
My personal opinion. Bland, but to the point. I do not like having PDF content loaded in an iframe. Prefer to have native text for the pages. But that is just at a glance.
I saw on TV yesterday that the Daily Newspapers are having an income problem in that many people have stopped running classifieds, in favour of Craigslist, which is a no charge method of advertising, or other internet methods.
I suspect that the news report was directed at the dailies, and not the weeklies. Keeping daily business is seven times harder than weeklies, right?
The site looks nice. I have to admit I almost NEVER read the weeklies. Sometimes my parents save a Herald for me if something about my old school or an old buddy is in it but that's about it. I've always lived in apartments so I've never had it home delivered.
With the website and even the paper copies what happened to the "legend". They used to say in the masthead "Serving the communities of ". That's been dropped so the odd time when I am at the Libarary I forget which paper is for my old neighbourhood, which covers where I am now. it would be nice if it said right on the paper so you would know at a glance.
I agree with you mrchristian. Sometimes, it's a matter of space. We've been through some re-designs and things can get lost or forgotten about, too. Plus, there are an awful lot of neighbourhoods in Winnipeg, too. Maybe we can come up with something more generic.

Haha, quickly reading this, I thought you'd written: "Pluse, there are a lot of awful neighbourhoods in Winnipeg, too."
