Speaking of the sun, I was amused to see the headline about what those darn punks are up to.... and unamused about the incident.
Fair enough Sputnik, the dictionary is an often unused book.
The pace of simple living in our cities is becoming far to hectic, IMHO; people running everywhere to get things done "RIGHT NOW" when possibly some more time and thought should be put into our lives. Are we too affected by the American way of thinking? "HURRY UP, RUSH RUSH" I am thinking so; and I refuse to be rushed into living my life in the fast lane.
Accidents with bicycles may not be the result of somebody driving too fast or being in a rush. It may be a case of carelessness or distraction. Or, it may even be the case that the cyclist pulled some stupid manouver in traffic . I've seen that before too.
I don't think that intentionally want to rush. However I believe that our culture likes to be VERY busy and active. Making rushing more of a symptom than a problem.
Those who sit back and relax are labeled as being lazy or boring. I recall conversations with friends who like to travel everywhere and go on epic adventures in other countries. I said that I prefer to relax in a canoe on a quiet lake or enjoy a good book in a park and the looks I got back was as if I just killed a small cat. There seems to be a lust for the new or unknown and a constant feeling that one must somehow better themselves by doing something be it yoga, exercise, working more, taking courses etc. Basically a feeling that being busy means that you are somehow important or better.
Perhaps self improvement comes with actually doing less and paying less attention to those that mean little to you personally.
Perhaps we just need to have that extra coffee in the mornings, but leave 5 minutes earlier to work? I've noticed many times that 5 minutes earlier; the roads are a little less congested, and arrived 10 minutes quicker!
I've also noticed, for myself of course, that getting into a good fight with a channel catfish up at Lockport is a good way to get rid of some tension! ROFLMAO

Amen. As the saying goes, "stop and smell the roses".
I'm going to make every effort to maintain the speed limit, but from a red light, I'm going to get to that speed limit as quickly as I can. Why do people need 100 metres to get to speed?

I know lots of Canadians who think they should hurry up and rush. Why is it "American thinking"?
Some drivers go too fast, others too slow. Both are annoying, imo. (Although in a collision, it's safer to have been going slower...)
What is up with people who are going to be turning three blocks up ahead and go 40km/h for three blocks before their turn?
How come people don't use turning lanes properly and instead make their turn from being half in the curb lane, half in the next lane over? You just slowed down two lanes of traffic so you could make your unnecessarily wide turn. You are not a semi, learn to drive in the lanes and make tight turns!!

heh.. I always stop and smell the roses... some other flowers occasionally as well, but whenever I am walking near roses I always stop and smell when they are in bloom.
